The sandal is named after Skærbæk, located in an incredibly scenic part of South Jylland with views and access to Rømø.
In the early 1900s, there were great weaving traditions in Skærbæk. The world-famous Skærbæk carpets were woven in the town at the Scherrebeker Kunstwebschule. The largest collection of Skærbæk carpets can be found on Museumsberg in Flensburg, Germany – but also a large number of Danish museums have the carpets on display.
Just 5 kilometers from Skærbæk you will find the village of Brøns – where Denmark’s probably largest Romanesque village church from around the year 1200 can be found.
