The story of Duckfeet
Shoes shaped to follow the foot
Since 1975, Duckfeet has been making shoes based on a simple principle: our shoes should follow the natural shape of the foot.
Duckfeet is original Danish design, grounded in a tradition of simplicity, function, and quality. From the beginning, the focus has been on giving the feet the best possible conditions – a wide toe box, honest materials, and a flexible sole.

Following the natural shape of the foot is not only about comfort – it changes how you stand and move.
A wide toe box allows your toes to spread naturally, improving balance and supporting a more stable posture. Nothing is squeezed or restricted. The foot can support the body as it is meant to.
But Duckfeet is not just about how the shoe feels on day one – it is about how it evolves.
With time, the leather softens and moulds to the foot. The shoes become more flexible, more personal, and more comfortable the more they are used. We don’t see wear as something to hide – we see it as something to value.
Duckfeet is meant to develop.
To gain patina, to be worn, used, and lived in.

Duckfeet began in 1975 in Skærbæk, Southern Denmark – an area with deep roots in shoemaking.
It was a time shaped by different values. Function over fashion. Durability over change. Products made to be used – and used again.
In the early years, production was local. Uppers were stitched by hand in nearby homes, while assembly took place in small factories across the region. The shoes were made close to where people lived – by people who understood the craft.
At the time, they were known as Originale Danske Andefødder – literally “original Danish Duckfeet” – a name that reflected both the form and the way they were made.
Behind it were Inga and Claus Wiechmann.
Inga was Danish. Claus was German and trained within the footwear industry. Together, they created something simple and lasting – built on function, made with care, and designed to last.

When Inga and Claus chose Vibeke Dissing to take over in 2004, it was not just a handover of a business – it was a decision about the future of the idea itself.
She was the only one they wanted to pass it on to – chosen for her knowledge, her experience, and who she was.
Vibeke understood what Duckfeet was – and what it should remain.
Under her leadership, the brand took on the name Duckfeet and found its way to people around the world, while the company continued to operate as Wiema Sko.
Production moved to Poland, the collection grew, and Duckfeet became part of everyday lives far beyond Denmark – while the design – and especially the shape – remained the same.
Today, the responsibility remains within the family. In 2022, Vibeke’s cousin, Klaus Vang, took over together with his wife Louise – continuing the work with the same respect for what Duckfeet has always been.

The Duckfeet community
Made for people
Duckfeet is for anyone who values comfort, simplicity, and durability.
The styles are unisex. The fit is generous. The design works across ages, styles, and ways of living.
It’s not about trends.
It’s about finding what feels right – and making it your own.

Made to be worn for years
Duckfeet is made to be worn – and kept. Not replaced when it shows signs of use, but held on to and used for longer. Creases, marks, and scuffs are part of the story. Signs of where you’ve been – shaping each pair into something personal.
When the sole wears down, it can be replaced – extending the life of your Duckfeet. It’s a simple philosophy: keep what you have, take care of it, and use it for longer.
Duckfeet icons
The originals
Three styles. Recognisable at a glance. Each one built on the same idea – comfort, simplicity, and a natural fit – shaped into designs that have stayed relevant for decades.

The original ankle boot
The shoe that started it all.
Simple, distinctive, and unchanged in its essence. A design that has remained the same for decades – because it works.
The original derby shoe
A natural extension of the original idea.
In a lower-cut version, with the same comfort, shape, and philosophy at its core.
The moc-toe derby
Easily recognised by its moc-toe construction.
A familiar silhouette that brings character to the same foundation of comfort, durability, and natural fit.

Duckfeet is made from a few carefully chosen materials – selected for how they perform, how they age, and how long they last.
Extra thick, full-grain terracare® leather, certified by both OEKO-TEX® and LWG Gold standards.
Natural crepe rubber – flexible, shock-absorbing, and made from responsibly tapped latex.
For colder seasons, selected styles are lined with soft European wool for natural warmth.
Nothing unnecessary.
Just materials that do what they are meant to do.

Duckfeet is made in Poland, where shoemaking is still a craft.
We have worked with the same production partner for many years – a relationship built on trust, shared values, and a respect for how things should be made.
Each pair is made with care and respect for the materials – cut, stitched, and finished by hand, using traditional techniques that take time but hold up over years of use.
There are no unnecessary synthetic components. Just solid construction, natural materials, and methods that allow the shoes to be repaired and resoled when needed.
It is not about mass production.
It is about making things properly.

Duckfeet does not follow seasons. We don’t release new collections every few months or change designs to keep up with trends. The same styles are made year after year – because they work.
It is not about constant change, but about getting it right and keeping it that way.
As we move forward, we do so with the same quiet confidence that has guided Duckfeet from the very beginning – staying true, staying grounded, and letting well-crafted shoes speak for themselves.
Thank you for walking with us.
